Back pain is something that many of us will have had to deal with at one time or another, whether that’s temporary discomfort from staying in one position too long or something more long term. If this is sounding familiar, you’re definitely not alone. But there are products you can try to help alleviate some of this discomfort and help you in your day-to-day.
Help look after your back with the Waist and Back Support. It’s a useful aid to help you avoid doing any unnecessary or twisting and bending movements that could cause you potential harm. It uses customisable compression to help reduce muscle spasms in acute strains or sprains of the lower back.
It wraps around the body and has a Velcro-style fastening to give you the best fit. It’s made from an elasticated fabric to provide sustained compression and localised warmth, lying flat against your skin so that you can wear it underneath your clothes.
Looking for pain relief that doesn’t involve taking painkillers? This digital TENS/EMS device from Beurer may be a great option to consider. It has 64 pre-set programmes designed to help target pain, tension, or discomfort almost anywhere on the body. It even has on-screen electrode placement to help make sure you get the electrodes in the right place.
The electrodes deliver the telectrical nerve stimulation straight to the site of your pain and provide an EMS massage to help alleviate your pain and discomfort. It can even use heat for that extra soothing touch.
This back support cushion is made of memory foam to make sure it keeps you both comfortable and supported as it moulds to your body. The shape of it is designed to encourage a healthy posture, to help hold your lumbar spine in the right position to reduce pressure and strain on your back.
It can be moved from chair to chair as needed, whether that’s in the office, when you’re in the car, or when you’re relaxing at home after a long day.
When your back is causing you pain, picking up items from the floor or reaching to grab something from a shelf may feel like an unpleasant prospect. With the NRS Healthcare Combo-Reacher you can avoid awkward reaching or bending to pick up the things you need. The head section turns through 360 degrees to help you get into different spaces, while the rubber-lined jaws keep a firm grip on whatever you’re reaching for.
The Combi-Reacher also has a magnetic tip that helps it to pick up small metallic items, plus an in-built shoehorn to make it that little bit easier to get your shoes on. Do you use a walking frame? It has a special clip that allows you to attach it to your frame so you can take it with you.
If you’re looking for cosy, soothing comfort to help with your back pain, then you might like to try the Harley Back Soother Cushion. It wraps around your back to offer you support and warmth, which could help to ease back pain.
It can be used at home or in the office; you could also use it while in a wheelchair or using a mobility scooter. The cushion comes with a super soft, faux sheepskin and tartan cover to help make it even more comfortable to use.
Heat can be a wonderful way to soothe the aches and pains of a bad back, which makes the Lavender Wheat Bag a product to seriously consider. Its pliable nature means you can mould it to the area that needs the warmth the most, so you can use it wherever it’s needed.
The wheat bag has a soft anti-pilling fleece cover to help make it comfortable to use, while the lavender inside gives off a relaxing and soothing scent. To heat it, you just need to put it in the microwave.
Sometimes it’s the way we sit that can result in back pain, if this is the case for you, then the Coccyx Cushion could be a useful way to help alleviate that. It has a special wedge shape that helps to tilt your pelvis forward, suspending your coccyx over the cut-out section and so relieving pressure there. It works by restoring the natural curve of your backbone and helping to keep your spine in alignment to help reduce postural stress.
The cushion comes with a removable cover that’s also machine washable, so it can be cleaned if needed.
If you’re someone who enjoys sitting up to read in bed or is finding that your favourite chair isn’t quite offering the support you need, you may want to consider this comfy pillow to help stop back pain from intruding on your relaxation time.
The V-shape of the pillow helps to provide additional support and keep you resting comfortably, whether you’re relaxing in bed or sitting in your favourite seat. It’s machine washable, so can be cleaned if needed, and is filled with Dacron fibres.
This handy massage therapy aid sits on top of an existing seat, giving you a relaxing massage to the places that need it the most. It’s mains powered, so can be used almost anywhere that has a socket nearby. It also comes with a car adaptor, so you can even use it on car rides.
It’s not just handy for those with back pain. The Heated Back and Seat Massager has pulse, tapping, rolling, auto, and kneading modes, along with four levels of intensity to help you relieve some of the aches and pains in your hips and thighs as well as your upper and lower back. The heat function in the cover helps give you an even deeper massage.
If you find yourself dealing with back pain often and at-home remedies are ineffective, it’s always best to seek advice and support from your doctor.
