What are the best products to help you stay safe in the bathroom
The bathroom can be a dangerous place for anyone. The floor and base of the bath can be slippery, especially after you’ve had a bath or showered, and if you’re older or living with a long-term health condition, you can increase your fear of falling, or cause actual falls. However, there are several great products that can help you to stay safe and prevent any falls, whether you’re bathing, showering or just using the toilet. We’ve put together our best recommended products to help you stay safe and confident.

Stay safe when using the bath or shower

Bathing and showering should be relaxing, but can be a worry for some people. If you’re a little unsteady on your feet, you may find it difficult to stand for a while in the shower, or feel unstable getting in and out of the bath.

If you’re finding it hard to climb over the side of the bath, a simple bath step provide you with more height and allow you to step safely in and out. It also offers added grip, so you’re not stepping back out onto a slippery floor.

Alternatively, you may feel you need a little more support and perhaps find it difficult to lift yourself up when getting in and out of the bath. If that is the case, you will find that using a bath lift or bath seat can help you enormously. For example, the Aqua Joy Bath Lift, means that you simply need to lift your legs over the side and turn your body to get into your bath. The Aqua Joy comes with a remote control, so you can lift or lower yourself safely in and out of the bath at the touch of a button.

We understand that some people may only have the option of a shower, or may just prefer using their shower. However, showering does entail standing for a period of time, so if you feel slightly uncomfortable, or get tired easily, you will find that a shower stool, such as the Swivel Shower Stool will be a great help to you.

Having some support for your back and arms might be more comfortable for you and there are some very effective shower chairs available if you do prefer that additional support.

Grab rails provide vital support in the bathroom

Having something to hold onto can help keep your balance in the bathroom and remove the fear of slipping and falling. A grab rail is a great way to support your balance, especially when getting in and out the bath or shower, or just for manoeuvring around the bathroom.

There are several options to choose from. A suction grab rail is ideal if you want to move the rail around rather than having a permanent fitting. Or you may prefer a number of fitted grab rails in the right places in the bathroom, such as the Stainless Steel Curved Rail that has modern look to blend in with your decor, whilst giving you added support.
