What are OT recommended products?

What are OT recommended products?

NRS Healthcare has been one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Occupational Therapy services to the NHS and the care sector since 1947. Working with the team of Occupational Therapists (OTs) at Complete Care Shop, we have identified a range of products that we are proud to say are OT Recommended.

These OT Recommended products have been carefully selected by the Complete Care Shop specialist buyers to meet our very highest clinical standards based on our decades of experience. You can feel confident that these products have been chosen because they offer you the best:

  • functionality
  • ease of use
  • safety
  • value for money.

You can recognise an OT Recommended product by the green badge in the top right-hand corner of a product image.

Are OT Recommended products better than other products?

Our Occupational Therapists evaluated each product in the OT Recommended range against set criteria and we're proud to give a seal of approval to those that passed.

Do bear in mind that an OT Recommended product isn’t necessarily a personal recommendation – everyone’s specific needs are different and another product may be more suitable for you. All our products are carefully selected, and the best product for you may not be an OT Recommended one.

If you are unsure what equipment is best for you, please refer to our buying guides or help and advice pages on the website, which offer a wealth of information on choosing the right product for you. If you’re still unsure and would like some further, personalised advice, our free expert advice service allows you to talk directly with a trained OT or OTA (Occupational Therapy Assistant) to help you further. You can even book a full hour-long private virtual assessment with an Occupational Therapist where your home and needs can be fully assessed by calling 0345 646 1861.

Below are the criteria that Rachel and her expert team of Occupational Therapists have used to evaluate each product. The team is proud to endorse those products that passed as OT Recommended.

What are the criteria for an OT Recommended product?

Is it functional?

  • Will it meet your expectations and do what it claims to do?
  • Does it enable independence or support a carer?
  • Is it fit for purpose?

Is it easy to use?

  • Does it require no or minimal assembly?
  • Is it simple to understand how to use with clear instructions?
  • Does it requires little ongoing maintenance?
  • Is it easy to keep clean?

Is it safe?

  • Does it meet all applicable UK safety standards?
  • Does the product present no obvious risks if used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions?
  • Are there user instructions or videos available to support its safe use?

Does it offer great value?

Finally, if a product is functional, easy to use and safe, we also expect it to have a:

  • Reasonable life expectancy
  • Be a cost effective solution
  • Be sustainable/recyclable.

Once our Occupational Therapists have evaluated the product against all the criteria and it has passed with flying colours, we can feel proud to give it the “OT Recommended” seal of approval that will reassure our customers they are spending their money wisely.
