Caring for someone with dementia can often cause stress and concern about how to keep them safe during the day, while still being able to live the way that both of you want to. At Complete Care Shop, we have a wide range of daily living aids that can assist you both. We’ve also compiled a list of five products for dementia that we believe can help your loved one maintain their independence and give you some peace of mind.
There are a multitude of supportive aids at Complete Care Shop for a wide range of issues and ailments, including dementia. Our living aids are designed to make the little things in life easier, which is why we’ve come up with a list of five products for dementia that we believe can give you – the caregiver – peace of mind that your loved one is safe.
The Rosebud Reminder Clock is a great way to help your loved one live more independently without having to keep track of every part of their day in your head all of the time. It features a large, clear LED-backlit display that’s easy to read and shows the date and time. It also has 17 unique alarms that can be set to remind them (and you) of any tasks that need completing, or appointments that they need to attend. You can even set video, text, or audio reminders with it too.
Developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and people living with or supporting those with dementia, as well as the Alzheimer’s Society, every aspect of this clock has been carefully chosen for ease of understanding and relief of stress or anxiety.
It can often be difficult to keep track of when your loved one needs to take their medications, especially if they have multiple pills to take throughout the day. The Vibralite 8 Medication Reminder watch features a modern design and has eight alarms that can be pre-set to remind your loved one that they need to take their medication. The alarm both makes noise and vibrates to get their attention and is very easy to use, while the bright backlight makes it easy to see too.
The watch is also water resistant up to 30 metres, so can be worn in the shower if needed.
The PhotoDECT Big Button Cordless Telephone makes staying in contact as easy as possible. It’s easier to use than a traditional phone thanks to a large font and 10 memory keys that you can customise with photos. This means a simple press of a button with somebody’s picture will prevent anyone from having to remember a phone number. The buttons are also backlit to make them easier to see and use, while the volume of the receiver can be amplified for individuals hard of hearing. This easy-to-use, simplified telephone makes keeping in touch with family members much easier and can be essential when the person in possession requires immediate assistance.
The Friends & Family Safety Alert Pro Alarm System is a wireless system that makes it easy to let loved ones know if assistance is required. This simple-to-use system requires minimal installation and is ideal for use in care home facilities and domestic settings. It has a rechargeable pager that can be paired with up to 45 pendants that feature push buttons with finger indents, making them easy to press. The pager features a 2 x 2.8cm LCD screen that notifies the carer of which pendant has been pushed. You could assign each pendant to a room in your loved one’s home so you’re aware of which room they’re experiencing difficulty, or while they’re out and about.
If your loved one is at risk of falls or needs help getting up and walking, the Anti-Tamper Care Alarm is a solution to consider. It can be fitted to beds, chairs or wheelchairs and uses a pull cord that magnetically attaches to the alarm unit at one end and your loved one’s clothes at the other. If they start to get up or fall, the connection will be broken and the alarm will sound, letting you know that they need help. It also includes a low battery indicator and a mounting bracket.
These five products for dementia are designed to help you care for your loved one. They boast excellent features to help remind individuals about medication and alert them to any possible emergency or incident. And there’s plenty more to choose from at Complete Care Shop, for example in our clocks and watches range.
